"so I won't starve to death" - you can only starve to death by not eating anything. Does spending your money on PC games, technology and such prevent you from starvation? Not really.
money is the closest thing that comes to god. You're nothing without money. You live everyday to get those things which can be achieved throughout money. You're chasing this simple piece of paper which is allowing you to occupy things that bring comfort in your life. The reason why people are even with you at the first place is because you have money. Everything is temporary in this life, and nobody cares about your existence as long as you're there to provide (which is the concept of our society).
