No, it was added for a reason. And it's quite clear that a large majority of the members agree to keep it.
As for the removal of /ar, you might as well search for a DM server to play on. By removing /ar we're basically turning Army into a DM-only faction.

This does not mean that we are not willing to alter the mechanics of how army arrests suspects or go back on this.

However I think it's way too early to tell whether or not this update is being abused by particular individuals. In some time, it will be easier to tell how the update has affected army gameplay. If it has resulted in more arrests than prior to the update, then obviously we need to rethink the suggestion.

If it turns out to be a problem, we will try to find a solution which is appealing to everyone. I think in a couple weeks at least, we can open a suggestion if it's still perceived as a problem and if the majority of the community wants to alter the way it works.

It is still a bit too early to go back on the decision as we don't have enough information about how the change has impacted gameplay.
