Money is different things to different people. To some its the difference between having a meal or going hungry. To others money can be the difference between being able to pay for a roof on your head or being homeless. To the luckiest of the group money can make the difference of buying a Mercedes G- Class or a Toyota corolla. Everyone has different circumstances. To me money is freedom. I can help my family, pay rent,eat,smoke,drink. Honestly when wealthy I can be as much as a philanthropist as I want and make a difference. People enjoy talking about making a difference. When you can't help yourself how can you help others!? Money can help make that difference between the guy that can and the guy that can't.

Money. Hmm
Money is important for everyone to fulfill its basic needs and many "extra" ones too. But I find that importance of money is known when you really needs it.
Everyone can justify and explain importance of money including me, but really the real importance can be told by the ones who really needs it.

Pretty important, actually. I really enjoy having money so I won’t starve to death.

Very important.

Money is needed till you have enough to keep yourself and your family alive and comfortable. Any more than that, its just a lifestyle.

Money and buying things can all be summed up in a single quote.

Love of money is the root of all evil. Lack of money is the root of all crime.

If you love money, and are greedy, most of the time you will do deplorable, scummy things to gain more money and often it just sits in your bank account looking good.

If you lack money, you can often end up doing things to survive. Prostitution, theft, robbery, those are all mostly done to feed yourself and your families. When the difference between watching your child eat or go hungry is doing something you know is wrong, often times, the wrong can be justified. It's a very sad state, but I have seen it many times.

"so I won't starve to death" - you can only starve to death by not eating anything. Does spending your money on PC games, technology and such prevent you from starvation? Not really.
