Cellphones and Business Cards with a PURPOSE (spam prevention measure)

Your name: [Lsrcr]Karu_Tepes
Suggestion headline: Add
Picture: Image
Importance of suggestion: 9/10 for the more 'popular' users
Why should it be accepted:

Lately, there has been a rather large issue with spamming, begging, and other forms of general annoyance going on. It's not just one or two, but almost half the server. Every time I log in, I see 3-5 messaged saying hello in mainchat, which I absolutely do not mind. But I also get 4-8 PMs at once of "hello" which IS bothersome. One, I can't reply to each one. Two, it's absolutely spammy, and three, if I miss one and don't say hello back, someone feels ignored and gets pissed off. I either have to deal with this, or turn my PMs off so no one can talk to me. Quite a few users do that. But it leads to an issue...
If I wanted to PM say... Moral, I have to put in mainchat "Hey moral, PM?", hope he sees it, then he has to look up my id, type a command, then we can chat. Except people can STILL pm me, and if I'm using /r I end up 90% of the time sending a reply to the wrong person. It's a minor thing, but when it happens multiple times a day, it gets to be frustrating. Even worse is the allow pm command only works for that session. If you or they time out, you have to repeat the whole thing again before you can continue your conversation. So here's my idea...

Cellphones and Business Cards. It's a simple concept, but works well. If two users are friends, they meet up and type /givebusinesscard (id) or /gbc (id). That adds their name to a list. So say I exchange cards with Moral. Instead of saying "allow pm moral" in chat, and all that crap, I simply type /call and pick his name from a list. A message shows up saying "[Lsrcr]Karu_Tepes is calling, type /answercall to accept.". Then him and I can use /c to chat back and forth. He never has to unlock his PMs, never has to look up my ID, just one command and it's done, with nothing on main chat. Furthermore, because it's /c, if someone else PMs me, I don't have to worry about /r sending a message to the wrong user. You could only have one call at a time. If someone else tries, they get a message saying "(user) is already in a call.". Makes things easier.

Commands:
/givebusinesscard (id) and /gbc (id): gives your name to another user, adding yourself to their list
/call: Opens a menu of people who's cards you have. Select one to start.
/answercall: begins the conversation.
/c: sends a message to the person you're on the phone with
/endcall: stops the conversation

I know it seems pointless to many, but some of us are tired of this. It's frustrating to be PMing someone and some random user PMs you for group rights and you use /r and end up telling them something private. And it's annoying to have to ask a close friend to allow your PM because they turn them off to stop annoying spam PMs. And even if they allow you to PM them, you still face the random user PMing you and interrupting the chat. And this has to be done every single bloody time one of you logs in. I'd rather just type one command and start a chat than go through the current system every time I log in.

It's a good idea, but... There are already commands to solve your problem. Join in game, /pmoff and then /allowpm for those who need you. If you want to PM someone whose PMs are off, just put yours off and /allowpm him. He will basically get notification you want to talk to him. Simple as that. Your idea is great, but importance of it is definitely not 9/10, I'd rather say 3/10 or none at all. There are suggestions of bigger importance devs need to work on and not waste time on suggestions like this one that won't effect gameplay for most users.

I get your point, and I agree devs have more pressing matters. But that is also a large amount of work every single time we log in. I'm just making a suggestion for a simpler system, nothing more.

as faraon said above it's.. Good idea but at the same time There is an easy and better solution Moreover, whenever someone upsets someone with a rights claim, you can take action like /Pmoff And if at the .same time you if want to talk to this person then do /allowpm On the other hand You can also use / ignore I don't think it's a big problem in my opinion There are also some of the more important suggestions We don't want to focus on the little things Nothing Else..

Unfortantly -1 Currently

Sounds like an overly complex way to describe ‘a way to permanently /allowpm one specific person’

I can imagine HL's phone system when she mentioned adding phones. Honestly, this won't work here in Lsrcr but I like the idea in general

-1 Since it would be a load on the devs and it's not really needed

Robin's not wrong, it is an overcomplicate way of doing it. However, I am NOT saying that this is by any means a priority. There are far more important things to work on. I suggested this more as a "nice thing to see, whenever devs have some free time" with an emphasis on roleplay, as i feel this would be used ALOT by Pagati.

Yeah, I don't really understand the benefit of this. Adding the option to permanently allow PMs would help, and we already have /pmg as an alternative to calling.
