Police class update

Your name: [Lsrcr]Karu_Tepes
Suggestion headline: Add jobs for police like civilians have
Picture: Keep the picture in this
Spoiler: show

Importance of suggestion: 9/10
Why should it be accepted: Lately, I've been curious as to how exactly the Ls-rcr police force works exactly, so I've been playing as a cop on an alt. Aside from seeing the true face from users, I also found that the police have some really terrible issues going on. I've tried a few different play styles, and seen quite a bit of struggles. After spending the last 130 days playing for short bits, I've been jotting down ideas on how best to make the LSPD a bit more realistic, easier to play, some buffs, some nerfs, and ultimately, I came to the idea of using a class system. For civilians, when you spawn, you get a list of classes. Bounty hunter, Private medic, Hitman, and so on. Each class has it's pros and cons and is based on play style. I think we should do the same for the police. I've analysed several play styles, interviewed several regular players who use police skin alot, and made this list which can be added to or subtracted from based on user input.

Image
Patrol Officer: The basic cop, not changed from how it is now. You get ONE score and money from fines and arrests, nothing from kills, but you can still kill. It basic, but it's tried and true. This is good for cops who are new or like to have it both ways.

Image
Pursuit: For those who prefer to arrest and want to someday join SWAT, this is the class you want. You PURSUE and arrest criminals. For this, you get double score on fined and arrests, plus a triple score if you arrest the most wanted. We all know the cops we hate because they have an insane SOC, and this is where they will shine. However, the caveat here is that if you kill ANY criminal who does not shoot YOU first, you get the 500 dollar fine. Doesn't matter if they killed another, they have to hurt you.

Image
ESU: The Emergency Service Unit (ESU) is for the cops who are tired of being forced to kill for nothing. We shouldn't be encouraging the LSPD to kill, it makes it more TDM than CNR, but with cop hunts and criminals who would rather die than be cuffed, it's become a rather huge let down that you get no score for shutting down a cop hunt. LEOs in the ESU class will get a single point for every criminal who is red/dark red they shoot, and the usual bonuses for arresting. The non-violent orange DM rule and fine does still apply though. This is for the ones who are great with duels and are thinking of joining the Army.

Image
Undercover: At 1000 police score, this class becomes unlocked. The wall is because it's pretty overpowered if done right. It can be done now, but in a very limited capacity most don't even know about. When using this class, you will become white in name and on the minimap if you are in a vehicle. Once you step out, you do go back to blue. Score be discussed, I wasn't sure what people thought on it.

Image
Police Medic: We redid medics a while back, and while the system is working, there is still a flaw. Private medics can be wanted, and are of little use to cops. The neutral medics are also not good for cops due to a huge disadvantage: When they assist a cop, they become vulnerable to criminal gunshots for 30 seconds, without a way to defend themselves. This makes the medic class more apt to help criminals and not cops. Police medics would be able to arrest like normal at normal score, kill with the same punishment as Pursuit (fined unless the criminal shoots first or harms them with /rob) and heal/cure other cops and themselves with the confining note that they can only use /healme 20 seconds AFTER being shot or if criminals are nearby, and it has a cooldown. This would give a healer to the police force that can actually defend themselves without also being searched for drugs and cuffed randomly.

Like I said, I've spent a long time figuring these all out, and I'm open to suggestions and ideas to be added/removed/changed. I've played a criminal with Karu, and as a cop on an alt, and interviewed people, and the feedback I got supposed the idea that this would be a good decision for balancing and making the server work a bit better. If you want the notes and evidences I have taken to support this suggest, shoot me a PM.

Special thanks to [Donald]Trash, White444, and AmBerFung for their helpful input on being a police officer, to the SA Army and SWAT for letting me spend time working with them as I collected evidence, and to everyone who read this.

In theory, this would be a great addition but in reality, considering our current playerbase, most would not be able to differentiate between the different police classes and would simply choose any just to spawn as a cop. In short, I think it would just over-complicate it for many.

I get your point, but I feel like you're kind of underestimating them. They have handled the civilian class system well, and I see no reason that couldn't transfer over.
