As I said it's the month which we believe God's forgiveness, prosperity is doubled however fasting can be done through the whole year. I know people in my country who fast 10 months a year. Ramadan month is just special because of the reasons I mentioned above.

Also during 10 last days of Ramadan, there's a night of "Night of Kadri" we call it in my country, not quite sure what's the proper term about it, but nobody knows which one that night is but it's during last 10 days of Ramadan and if you fast during that day it'll be count multiple times more valuable.
