Priests of two rival churches on Wednesday in the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem went to blows with each other.
The Armenian and Greek Orthodox clerics scolded each other and beat each other with broom steal. The fight broke out during the annual cleaning ceremony at the house of prayer, which is built on the site where Jesus ever in the world would have come. The clergy were cleaning the church for the celebration of Orthodox Christmas in early January.
Both church associations manage every part of the church and monitor that tooth and nail. Wednesday's violence erupted when the two camps mutually accused of entering another's territory. In recent years skirmishes were frequent as that of Wednesday.
Palestinian security forces put an end to the brawl. No serious injuries were reported.
