Go to the top left where you usually click to save, if you already have a movie in windows movie maker the "save movie" should be clickable and then just pick a different format that is suitable for what your doing

Get FRAPS, get the Xvid Video Codec, and get Virtual Dub (It's free).

FRAPS is a great program for recording video and audio, however it leaves humungous file sizes (upwards of 5 gigabytes for two minutes of footage), which is why you need Virtual Dub and the Xvid Codec.
