Hey everyone, just thought I had to make this topic after being dissapointed by a particular player that I was playing with recently. You might be thinking already from the title, omg just another rant about how we're supposed to be nice to each other and bla, bla, bla. But that's not really where I am going with this. Anyways, I apologize in advance for taking much of your time, and thank you for reading this topic, as well as any feedback you may wanna leave too. Usernames will not be displayed since these players represent a type of player that hurts the community.

So, let me begin by saying what happened. I was just chilling, playing like I normally do and I /pm player A to ask him to /request items. He politely agrees, and I /sell the items to him. However, player B approaches me and starts shooting at me. He is saying stuff like "you stole my only client", etc. but I don't really care about that, comments like that fly ALL the time around in the server (another problem in itself, but not the one I'm trying to address right now). After 5 minutes, he /hit's me for it (taking hits does not bug me ofc), however, I felt obligated to let this player B know that he'd done a mistake, and told him to please read the /rules and /pc, to be more informed about the server's rules. If it had stayed at that, then I wouldn't be writing this topic.

He decided to respond, and it was the response that triggered this topic. He said "look at my score, and then look at yours" along with some pleasant insults that obviously didn't offend me or anything of the sort. However, that attitude of looking at the score as if it was the only thing that matters pisses me off. It is the BIGGEST problem (if not one of them) that this server has. I proceed to tell him that obviously rules are rules, and we are all allowed to make mistakes, but that score is not a factor that justifies people from not making said mistakes. He continues to say stuff like oh shut up, I don't need to take any advice from you, I obviously know what I am doing since I have more score.

That is what I am targeting with this topic. Why do some players have the need to hide behind this virtual shitty number that doesn't really say anything? Why does it seem to be the only reason behind some player's playing the server? It just makes me really nervous that these people are just playing as if they wanted people to say "oh look at my score" or "oh look I can kill you in 2 shots" etc, etc. Why do you seek this recognition/gratification on a virtual fucking game, instead of just having fun like you're supposed to? Games are supposed to be played for fun, and that's it. Score is just a number that opens doors for certain experiences you may have in the server (like factions, groups, etc) but the overall gameplay stays intact. You can be a cop/robber/trucker/mechanic/etc. with a score of 0 or a score of 50,000, and still have the same amount of fun.

I'll put this in another perspective. Think of two football players, player 1 and player 2. Player 1 plays to have fun and enjoy the game with his friends. Player 2 plays with his main goal to listen to people chant his name and give him recognition for playing, instead of the love of the game/the enjoyment that comes from playing it.

Now, if you are somewhat like me, you agree that it is players of the type of player b (or 2) that might drag certain players away from the server or even discourage new players. Why would you have to take all of their crap as a new player, I mean you're trying to have fun, and learn the game and play, but here is this player B annoying them, the kind of player that says "you suck" or "omg you nub", etc. or says stuff like "look at my score, then look at yours", etc. or even worse thinks that by having more score/playing time he automatically knows better than everyone else does.

Anyways, and I'll end it here, what I am trying to make all of us reflect on is trying to just play for the fun of the game, and not be self-centered immature little children that think they know better than everyone else, and try to belittle everyone that is not in their same score range. Because score is truly just a number, and a number only, and until everyone understands that, we won't be able to move forwars as a community, we shall remain as a group of players that play this one server, but not a community.

You can find ignorant and cocky people everywhere, even in games. What can you do about them? You can rather think about the problem and make a topic about it, accepting the fact that it will actually make no positive impact on the community, stressing you out even more, or you can just ignore them and move on.
I'm not saying you aren't right and that you shouldn't be doing this but, what's the point of playing a videogame? Getting upset over stupid people or having fun? I always try to keep my priorities in the right place, and having a good time when I play games is one of them.
In your case, I wouldn't have even replied back lol I'd have just kept on playing. You don't always have to explain your actions, because that guy was wrong from the beginning, and you still tried to justify your actions like if you had anything to justify in the first place.
Dude, that guy was butthurt because you were faster, that's life. You shouldn't deal with his shit.

I get where you're coming from Santiago, and I agree with you. I know this probably won't change how some people act just like some people won't be able to fully change how I act. I didn't stress over it either lol, I just thought that I had to make the topic because the idea of a server without this whole bs (that should be ignored anyway, as you correctly said) would be great, I mean, don't you feel curious, even if it just were for a week or two?

I agree that is annoying but unfortunately there's not much that can be done about that. you can report them in-game and sometimes they back off if the admins are on but there are those who are not as easily evadable. Usually if you ignore them they eventually go away. if it persists feel free to inform a trusted staff member and ether ask if he can do anything or just for some advice if you need it. some of the tag members are willing to help as well. although because the situation is considered minor there's not much that can be done about it. I hope that you won't have the same issue as you did today, but if you do try your best to ignore it if it isn't heavy insults or anything that isn't too offensive. You also have to take into consideration that this is an 18+ games and disrespect is going to happen along with stuff like that. I hope you have a better experance tomorrow.

Thanks for the words, but it is not feeling offended what's got me. Ofc it's an 18+ game, and I think we're all grown enough to play it without taking insults or whatever seriously. But I mean come on, just play for the fun of it, not just to gain score or have 500+ kidnap score so you can talk about it, or be in army/swat just to talk about it, etc. Just do it, enjoy it, and experience those two with other players too :)

I see you're point but if that's really how they get there fun then let em have it. Some people take pride in there score. which isn't really a bad thing unless if it goes too far, but even if it does it isn't the biggest issue, although I completely understand where you're coming from but also some people aren't raised to respect others, some parents don't always teach the golden rule and there are some that don't even set a good example so that's bound to happen. just do your best to enjoy the server and not allow that to get to you.
