The signs of improvement are there, you're definitely improving slowly but surely.
A mistake I learned from when I was starting out: don't overuse effects unless they serve a purpose. I personally use effects to enhance a certain mood or add something to the story to keep it interesting. Whenever you consider adding an effect, ask yourself whether or not you actually need it and how it helps you tell your story better.
Other than that, you're on the right track. Make sure you get the most out of constructive feedbacks while ignoring people who try to bring you down.
