If you link the player in a topic, he will receive a notification at the top of the forum.
It's good if someone response in a topic and you don't know that, or you will be mentioned somewhere and still you don't know that.
For sure you could deactivate the notification in the options if you're annoyed by this.

Yeha I always had idea an idea of some system for notifications like on fb for example.

We will be adding in notifications soon. With a recent forum software update it adds the feature in. Unfortunately it kills our custom forum theme, so i'm having to code a brand new one. Once it's done it'll be released along with the dev website.
