Play Arma, it's good. Rust, DayZ if you're into survival games too.

I'd rather you save up money than spend it on older games. As for your specs, a GPU upgrade will definitely benefit you more than others provided you have the required PSU for it.

Problem is I have a laptop, and I won't be getting a PC anytime soon. Hence I'm stuck with this machine for a while :/
That's the entire problem with my specs, I don't feel comfortable upgrading laptop components since I've heard it's much more complex

GTA 5, well optimised and might run in your lappy.. The only outcome I can think of is your laptop turning into a note 7, period.

2k games are pretty good when it comes to borderlands mafia and I think they also made bioshock. They're fun games especially borderlands.
