20 November, 1985, Bill Gates announced the first Windows Operation System version(1.0). Which was the most used service in the world in the field of computing.

Windows 1.0 (1985)

The first version of windows, with drawn theme, supports mouse and few important programs.

Windows 2.0 (1987)

this version wasn't really different of the previous one, but the new thing here was releasing Word and Excel as first version.

Windows 3.0 (1990)
Image
From here the real development started. This version was the first version for many people. A clean theme and easier to used, with the ability to go to folders. And we can't forget the game "Minesweeper" Haha.

Windows NT 3.5 (1994)

Colors/Icons got updated.. Microsoft focused on the security and file sharing in this version.

Windows 95 (1995)

This version was a classic version, one of the most important updates that occurred on windows - 32 Bit used for the first time. Added the Start menu which became the most important thing later.

Windows 98

No much updates in this version is was similar to Win95. They made it easy to connect on the internet, network programs, and more few programs for chatting.

Windows ME (2000)
Image
This version was one of the worst versions, very much bugs. Windows Media Player & Movie Maker updated.

Windows 2000 (2000)
Image
This is not the same the previous version, this version was made to the companies. Microsoft worked to make it very secure, and at its time, it was the most secured version.

Windows XP (2001)

After just one year, Microsoft released the Windows XP the one that became the most popular. It was almost fully updated, no much bugs, themes updated. This version was for normal users. But soon it became very popular for everyone.

Windows Vista (2007)
Image
Another failure for Microsoft. Even with the good updated of the theme and security tools this version didn't success. Much errors/bugs. And it required a high performance to use it, and no much people had it at that time.

Windows 7 (2009)
Image
After the failure there is always a huge success. Thats what happened with Microsoft. He fixed his mistakes on the previous version and released Windows 7 to be one of the best versions he released.

Windows 8 (2012)
Image
"Root change" of Microsoft windows. The Start Menu got removed(which made some users mad). Microsoft store, design change and much more.

Windows 10 (2015)
Image
As for the last release, Windows 9 wasn't as how they expected it to be. So Windows 10 got released instead, it came with many services. Internet Explorer Edge..Cortana. And the OS is fully working on Xbox One. Multi Disktops.. and much features that everyone talk about.

Quite interesting.

At work, we have devices that still use Windows CE - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Embedded_Compact

It's very annoying going back in the ages and waiting for the device to process a 17kb file ;)

Windows through the ages has came a long way, I'm typing this from Windows :)

Indeed, most of our software runs better on older versions of CE and Windows Mobile than it does on the newer versions therefore we downgrade / use older devices haha.

Windows 7 64 bit was my favorite out of all of them. I remember windows 95-98, they were pretty basic

Windows me I remember many people complaining about. Supposedly you couldn't do anything on it without dealing with glitches.

Anything past windows 7 64 bit wasn't real good in my opinion honestly. I'm not even going to count win 10 as being good. There's many things I don't like about it. Some of the features are kinda useless to me.
Cortana should've stayed in halo honestly XD
