How do you explain this then?Again i take nothing from the Bible and Quran as literally,it's all poetic.In my mind, as I lay in bed, I saw a vision:
At the center of the earth was a towering tree.
The tree grew in size and strength;
it was as high as the sky;
it could be seen from every corner of the earth.
Its leaves were beautiful, its fruit abundant;
it had enough food for everyone.
Wild animals took shade under it;
birds nested in its branches.
All living things lived off that tree.
.......
Then Daniel interprets it:
Then Belteshazzar answered, “Sir, I wish the dream to be for those who hate you and its meaning to be for your enemies!
20 The tree you saw that grew in size and strength, that was as high as the sky, that could be seen from every corner of the earth
21 with its beautiful leaves and its abundant fruit, and that had enough food for everyone, with wild animals living under it and birds nesting in its branches
22 Your Majesty, that tree is you! You have grown large and become powerful. Your greatness is as high as the sky; your rule extends to the edge of the earth!

"it was high as the sky" ,where exactly is the sky? are you talking about the optical illusion you see when the Sun's light hits Earth's atmosphere and the blue light is scattered? Or is it just a comparison for the tree being very very tall?
"it could be seen from every corner of the earth" again,a metaphor for the tree being very tall,meaning it could be seen from far away.
Nothing from the religious books should be taken literally,it's filled with metaphors and comparisons to give it a poetic meaning.
If you take it literally ,do you mean to tell me the Moon split in half?

A poet is tempted to go for untrue and exaggerated claims because he has to bring rhyming words in his verses and also to stir emotions of the readers. Qur'anic verses rhyme as well, but they are free of the limitation of poetry, because has no limitation for expressing ideas, and He his in no need to unnecessarily stir emotions of people. It is because of the rhyming nature of Qur'anic text that it is amenable to memorizing much more easily than prose.As for the verse of Qur'an from Chapter 54, you're just picking up the verse out of context. Read the whole chapter you would understand that Qur'an is talking about the Hour (The Last Hour) before the Day of Resurrection happens. There are many verses in the Qur'an which talks in like past happening but in reality they are the events of future. Such as https://quran.com/84.

I would like to know something, have you read the whole Qur'an or are just picking random verses from Internet?
Gangsta19 wrote:If it's talking about the future then why does it mention Lot's family and his people? (Chapter 54 : verse 33)It's not only talking about Lot's family but all those who rejected the signs including those people who rejected the Prophet. As it says "But for every matter is a time of settlement.". It's not surprising to any Muslim or the one who understands and read Qur'an. That's the way Qur'an gives the message. Read the whole chapter rather than picking up a verse out of context. Even if you look at Chapter 55 of the Holy Qur'an, it says "if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority" and some people actually said that it is a mistake since we can go through heavens but if you read the verse with context then you'd realize that it is talking about the Day of Judgement. May God guide you.
The story of Sodom and Gomorrah predates the Islamic era. (it's also in the Bible)
And yes,I have a 200 year old Quran that has been passed by generations ,not only have I read it,i tried understanding every sentence in it's deepest meaning.I may not know all the verses by heart but if the topic arises i know what you're talking about.

If something doesn't make sense in the Qur'an, you'll come up with some alternate explanation and most Muslims will have a different explanation. Just like with verses proved wrong by science, before they were proved wrong Muslims would take credit for it and believe that it is right, and after being proved wrong they would change their explanation, twist the way they read words so they can say they were right all along. I'm not saying it's not the same with the Bible, but I am just surprised you cannot see what you are doing yourself. You claim to read this naturally but you are definitely just looking for places to complain, especially since you weren't able to understand the meanings of the words.
