Suggestion headline: Add server whitelist
Picture: Keep the picture in this
Spoiler: show
Importance of suggestion: 10/10, greatly reduces ban evaders and alts made to troll
Why should it be accepted: The idea is pretty simple. Instead of letting everyone make an account and just join, make it so only approved accounts (whitelisted) can join. All recognized accounts like mine, Ackman's, Beatens, and so on would be automatically whitelisted, can just copy/paste the list into the approved names. Then, open a new forum section (where applications will be hidden from players to protect legitimate alts) where players use the following template:

Name:
Age:
Country:
Home or Cafe user:
Any currently whitelisted names:

Users looking to make alts just to troll or ban evade are far less likely to bother filling out an app and waiting to have the account approved just to log in to troll. And since I know staff have the ability to cross reference accounts, you'll know immediately if someone is lying, or ban evading, and can deny them instantly. Meanwhile if they have no alts, no bans, and so on, just approve and copy/paste the name into the whitelist.

This also gives the chance to truly stomp out ban evaders. Anyone trying would surely get caught when the app is checked, and that's all there is. Deny, and that's all. No need to get evidence that account 3856239643 is a ban evader, because 3856239643 showed as an evader in his app and wasn't added, meaning he never made it to the server.

Now yes, I am aware this would add a bit more work for the staff team. I know, and I'm sorry. But ultimately, checking a quick app, cross checking it, and denying it is FAR less effort than gathering the proof needed for a ban appeal. It also keeps the players happy. It's a win for both sides, and will be a step toward getting the server back under control.

Well, I'm not staff or anything, so I don't see why I can't disclose what I know from my old server where I was staff...

The Ls-rcr, in their privacy statement, say outright they track your IP Address. You can even see this in your UCP under logs. That IP address can locate you down very, VERY close to where you are. It wont give them a home address, but they can absolutely tell what city you are in. Furthermore, that IP Address is attached to your ROUTER, not your PC. This means every single user in a cafe has the same IP Address. So if user A has the IP 12.345.678.9010 and users B, C, D, E, and F also have 12.345.678.9010 then you know they are all logged into the same cafe, on the same internet, at the same place. Furthermore, even if they have dynamic IP, like the cafe, the first sections never change. 12.345.546.1212 is likely STILL from that cafe, and while that will be enough to evade a ban, since it's a new IP in full, the IP changes for everyone, so A, B, C, D, E, and F will all now log in under 12.345.546.1212

That's all it takes. If the user is from a cafe sharing the IP of other members, staff see it and can look into it. From there they have ways of finding out more that I won't go into.

That convinced me enough I understand your point now, as I said before I agree with your suggestion and I think it is the best solution, and if this is possible to happen yeah absolutely I agree with this, good job Karu for the suggestion I hope Staff accept it and can do it too.

Negative

The player base is already very small. We should make it easier for new players to join. A new player (not a ban evader) won't do much hassle of creating a forum account, making an application and wait for the staff team to review it. He'd straight switch to some other server, which might reduce the potential player base. Also, most admins tend to go undercover to catch people rulebreaking. If a whitelisting system is introduced then admins will easily be discovered when they are undercover and would make things a complete mess.

Tbh ban evaders don't cause much trouble to me at least. They are only searching for chances to mend up their mistakes and are looking for one more opportunity to play here. They usually tend to play fair, hence they are not much of an issue. I totally believe they should be banned, but yes they are not a big issue.

Lastly, whitelisting is usually introduced in roleplay servers where there is a complete set of rules that has to be followed so that everyone can play their part well. In a CNR server players are supposed to explore the game by themselves hence whitelisting is not necessary.

How many new players do you think we really get? Honestly? Almost all the new accounts made are alts and ban evaders. If we do happen to get someone who truly has never played here before, I think they would understand.

And maybe they don't bother you, but believe me they bother others. The amount of spam I get from evaders, as well as reports made on me by report hunting evaders (you've seen Hero_Dark and Ertyo/omarflx100 do it) us unreal.

As for staff on UCs... they can whitelist and unwhitelist themselves as they please. As I said before, players will NOT be able to see the applications. Just like how we can't see other users support tickets. We, the players, will never be able to see who is and isn't applying. So a staff could easily make a UC, whitelist it, and act new, and we wouldn't know.

Great way to lose more players. No new player will bother doing all of this while there are lots and lots similar servers. I don't think this would stop ban evaders. It might stop lots of undercover accounts tho. This will be a lot work for admins and we already have only few active admins with us. -1

I agree with Faraon's opinions, but we can improve it by restrict some new account from the same IPs.

So we can easily caught ban evaders if they try to evade it. If it's your first time login to the server then there is no problem.

But to create a second account from the same Ips, I would agree with Karu's opinions then.
