The SWAT Shock Bomb got nerfed pretty heavily around 4 months ago, and honestly this isn’t just something I feel alone, a lot of people around me think the same.
SWAT has already become one of those factions that doesn’t have the same activity or presence it used to have. I’ve been in SWAT for close to a decade now, and over that time I’ve seen pretty much every discussion and suggestion you can think of around SWAT, especially the old explosive SWAT bomb. That thing was actually insane back in the day, it could wipe multiple people if you detonated it properly, which is exactly why it eventually got replaced.
After that, the SWAT Shock Bomb came in around 2019, and for a long time there weren’t really any serious complaints about it. Most people just saw it as balanced and moved on.
What Was Actually The Problem?
A few months ago, the whole nerf discussion started again. From what I saw, the real issue people had wasn’t even that the bomb itself was "too strong", it was more about multiple SWAT members stacking it on one guy in a short span of time that part I can understand.
But instead of focusing only on that issue, the changes that went through felt a bit too heavy overall. Things like cooldowns, ejection removal, jammer failure, and restrictions on multiple detonations were all added together.
In my opinion, that specific issue could have been solved in much simpler and less extreme ways such as:
Adding rules for repeated usage on the same target
Allowing criminals to carry multiple jammers
Making jammers easier to purchase instead of only BM (24/7s maybe?)
Adding a global short (15s to 30s) delay between detonations
Nerfs That Were Added
Instead, the SWAT Shock Bomb received several changes at once:
Engine-off timer reduced to 5 seconds (previously around 8 seconds)
Automatic ejection removed from NRG-type bikes
Per-SWAT-member cooldown added
Cooldown was initially 20 minutes, later reduced to 15 minutes
Restrictions added to prevent multiple SWAT members from detonating in a short timeframe
The biggest issue here is still the cooldown. Even at 15 minutes, it feels quite heavy considering how SWAT gameplay actually works.
Why SWAT Gameplay Is Different
SWAT situations are rarely controlled or isolated. As soon as you drag someone, the location gets announced in main chat, and within seconds criminals start showing up, even if they’re not teamed. That’s just how SWAT has always been, chaotic and usually outnumbered.
Another thing is how SWAT is viewed in general.
Criminals will naturally always be more reactive toward SWAT because we arrest and they actually have to serve jail time, while Army just kills and they respawn instantly. So SWAT ends up getting targeted more no matter what.
That’s just how it’s always been.
Current State Of SWAT
SWAT is already one of the least populated factions right now. There are around 11 members total, with a few being staff and some not consistently active.
In reality, there are only a handful of active SWAT players left, and most of them play solo most of the time. Solo SWAT gameplay is already harder than regular cop gameplay in many situations, and I think most people would agree with that.
On top of that, criminals already have access to several counters including:
BM items
Jammers
Taze reflectors
9 shocks
Cop bat
Because of that, I genuinely feel like the nerfs went further than what the actual problem was.
Suggested Alternative Changes
Personally, I believe the SWAT Shock Bomb should either be reverted closer to its old form or adjusted with much lighter balancing changes instead.
For example:
15–30 second delay between detonations
Easier access to jammers
Allowing multiple jammers to be carried
That would’ve directly fixed the actual issue, which was repeated usage on one target, not the SWAT Shock Bomb itself. Just a side note from my side, criminals will naturally always be more reactionary toward SWAT because of the arresting aspect of it However, I still believe changes like these should be approached more carefully and fairly, especially by seniors, instead of being implemented too suddenly or impulsively without properly considering the opinions of people who actively play SWAT and understand its gameplay firsthand.
I also think CX understood this well during his time as SWAT Commander. Not every complaint or backlash toward SWAT necessarily meant something was genuinely overpowered or unhealthy for gameplay, because SWAT has almost always been a faction that receives complaints by nature.
Changing mechanics that have existed for years and suddenly treating them as “illogical” without properly balancing them for everyone can honestly make people lose interest, especially when the changes feel one sided rather than fair to all sides involved.
Even right now, criminals already have access to VIP Packet and items like taze reflectors, cop bat, and auto /bc, along with shock on spawn, yet there is still often a lot of backlash when it comes to getting arrested.
This is just feedback from someone who has played the faction for a long time and has seen how these changes actually play out in real situations.
Honestly, the main issue wasn't with the Swat Bomb itself, it was with a single user who grinded his ass off to get it, and started spamming it on EVERYONE. Multiple targets I'd get, especially when alone, or a single target who was being difficult. But that's not what he did. He would go after single player targets, pop it instantly, and ruins the gameplay for pretty much everyone. Like the second he would log in criminal activity hit zero. I won't say his spamming of it was a large part of why people suddenly quit back in March, but it likely played a role.
I totally agree with Kawish here, I believe the bomb was nerfed not because it was over powered but the actual reason behind it was that a swat member detonating it on the same target multiple times in a short span of time which for sure ruins the game play experience for the player who is playing as a criminal. I believe this could be fixed by adding clear and balanced rules for the swat members.
Or if it can be coded, a player won’t be effected by it once deployed if it was used on him recently, the cooldown could be anything which is fair enough.
Also, allowing players to carry multiple jammers is a good idea, it will actually make it more balanced but i don’t support that jammers should be available anywhere else other than the blackmarket.

I play criminal alot and I see swat bomb animation takes some time and I can easy kill who is doing it
but there is still some swat people without saying their name , they just use ssb on 2 criminals or 3 while they are 2 so lol?
if you buffed the ssb again then make a rules for it else they can just spam it on everyone
for now I think it's bad idea

Hello I See it well suggetion, because nowdays criminals be a lot against us, + swat bomb if they used it for one time, that will take other 15 minutes to re use it, if this back will be helpful and makes S.W.A.T. Strongful more plus S.W.A.T. Members have a big tactics, with swat bomb, I liked the old system and new system for S.W.A.T. bomb shocks that unfairly, and that must be change to back as they strong if there a big cophunt within 6/7 players and I used S.W.A.T. bomb shocks I can't handle it without the command, and depending if you alone, too So I'm giving his suggetion big positive and it would back again thanks
I mean, there's sound logic to this. The problem isn't the SWAT bomb itself, but how it's used. If the bomb were the problem, why don't we acknowledge that the army also have overpowered vehicles and weapons, such as Hydra, Hunter, Rustler, Sparrow, Tanks, Grenades and RPG which could effectively wipe out an entire cophunt with the push of a button?
Therefore, I find this suggestion fair and logical in every sense, especially given the recent activity and interaction on the server, which is making SWAT job even more difficult. +1
It's crazy to see such a suggestion being made. The SWAT Shock Bomb was nerfed, yet it is still overpowered. It wasn't fully nerfed, but it did receive a cooldown. In my opinion, that's not too bad either, considering there are no rules on its usage and it can be used in almost any scenario at any time.
We also have other useful perks, not to forget /swvm, /smh and drone, and /swclimb. I don't know what more y'all need, but let's be honest and speak facts, the SWAT Bomb is already an overpowered perk, yet you're requesting to buff it even more.
Speaking from both SWAT and Criminal perspectives, I am certain it doesn't need any buffs and is totally fair now. Considering SWAT is active again with UNIT L26, maybe we actually need to practice real tactics instead of looking for perks to make things easier.
