Hey.

Windows 8 is on sale till 1 jan 2013.

How is Windows 8 with old games? (64 bit) I mean, does it manage to run GTA SA for example. And how the is compatibility with older programs etc? I'm not sure if I'm going to buy it or not. I mean, is it better than windows 7?

Yeah. I thought that myself, until I saw someone writing about it in the main chat.

That's why I am posting a topic here, so I can see other peoples opinion.

i see no issues with windows 8, been using it since before the actual release from a torrent. you get everything you get in windows 7 and more, and if you don't like the start menu and taskbar you can get the old one back by installing a program called start8.

go for it, nothing to lose

I had a chance to upgrade for about $20 as well but I decided not to. Why? Windows 8 brings no significant updates (in my opinion) except for the new desktop un-optimized Modern UI. There are a few tweaks under the hood, yes, but the updates in the UI make it less attractive choice for desktop computers.

In spite of what I just said, I'm not completely against Windows 8. In fact, I love it on tablets -- the devices the whole OS has been designed for.

On a non-touch screen laptop or desktop I would stay with Windows 7.

As I viewed it,seems pretty uncomfortable for gaming although you should test it by yourself.

I just installed it, games work fine. You can use compatibility mode if it doesn't work probably.
