Hey,

I have currently been doing some work to the event admins, my goal has been to add more features and also to make it easier for admins to set up events. This way it will be would less frustrating for admins to create events and you players could expect more of them.

My creativity only goes so far, so please guys if you have any suggestions for the event system please speak up now. This topic probably won't be open for too long as I don't intend for this to be an ongoing discussion. I simply want suggestions and ideas! It doesn't matter if you think it might be a stupid idea or if it's been suggested before, reply with whatever you think might improve the event system and the server.

Thanks!

Countdowns

I think an automatic countdown would be quite useful: the host could set the time, and when the countdown ends it will automatically unfreeze all players if already frozen. This will allow for players to prepare themselves especially in events such as races.

Checkpoints

Event hosts would be also able to create way-through points (checkpoints), which players would have to pass through to be able to continue on with the race; this will cause less confusion as players will then know which route to follow. However, a finishing point could just be created instead and participants would have to find their own route but the destination will be clearly marked with a blip on the map.

Spectating

The host can select whether they would like spectating after death to be enabled for all participants or not. In events such as deathmatches, once a player has died, they would be able to switch through and spectate the remaining participants. They would also be free to quit spectation mode simply by using the (/event leave) command. This would reduce the amount of players asking 'who's left?' in the main chat as they would be able to see for themselves.

Event

It's annoying not only for the administrator who spent time setting up an event, but also for the players, when their event would be automatically closed if the host quits or times out from the server. To prevent this, a new host would be automatically selected if there are any other staff members online, otherwise, the host would be able to select a co-host just in-case anything happens to the event.

I will reply with more suggestions when I finish thinking of some

There was recently added something similar, certain classes cannot be located by others if they wish to. Regarding their icon not being visible on the map, there's already a feature but it's only used mostly in Hide n Seek events.

This isn't even that important but allow admins to use /color on event spawned cars so that way if there is a big TDM event with vehicles you can have a color to represent your team, also have a color to the name if possible (say have 4 team colors red green purple and blue)

also have the cars act as group cars where only the team it belongs to can drive it.

Will definitely add this to the event vehicle list dialog I provided a screenshot of below.

So far I've added the following things (that I can recall, some are probably left out and more things are meant to be added):
- Event presets, saving & loading (includes all event settings and vehicles), I believe this makes event administration a lot easier.

- Event list system, lists players, vehicles and presets. All event participants are listed for the host, all the event vehicles, and all the enabled vehicle presets. Here's an example on an event vehicle:

And here are the actions the event hosts can perform on players. If you guys have any ideas for more actions that could be performed, please do leave a reply.

I have already been intending to add a Set team option for both the player and vehicle list, and of course then also teams to the event list. This way event hosts would be able to set up team vs team events and such a lot faster, and I would of course also add the ability for admins to toggle friendly fire and such between teammates.

- An event information dialog has been added as well with a description of the event, the description can be altered and this dialog will be displayed when joining an event.

- An option for event hosts to force participants to stay within short range of the spawn point before the event has been started.

- An actual event countdown, event hosts can now choose to do /event start which will will count down from 25. When the countdown is finished, frozen players will be unfrozen and everyone and their vehicles will be set to their appropriate values. For vehicles, this is always 1000 for now, but as for players the event host decides what armour and health the participants should have.

* A way for event hosts to place objects is something I'm considering, they would also then of course be listed in the event list and also saved to the event presets.

* Co-hosts / assistant event hosts is something I also have been thinking about. The event system is written in a way which makes this a bit tricky, but it is possible and perhaps there is even a possibility that I will make it possible to appoint non-staff members as host assistants. This would require far more work as I would have to limit their access throughout the event system, but I will consider it.

I have deleted some irrelevant replies from this topic, I hope I don't have to delete any more. You guys are in no way required to follow any format as someone stated, if that had been the case I would have provided you with one. As long as the replies are on topic I am happy, and I would definitely be grateful if you guys could help out with more ideas.

Changes are looking sick, let me know when you've pushed and I'll come test them out with the other beta testers if I'm available.

I had a shit ton of ideas for TDM and Vehicle TDMs so that's why I put in my suggestion. Allow up to 4 teams if you can or let the host decide.
