Introduction
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Hello guys and welcome to yet another topic by yours truly. I was originally going to make this topic only for swat or at least only in the swat subforum section, but since no one ever replies to any of my topics there, I decided to make it general and put it in the “guide” section of the forum. The reason behind this topic’s existence is pretty simple: there’s a lot of leo’s that are unaware of how to deal with certain scenarios on their own.

With that said, I think it is important that I also state the following: Some scenarios just cannot be solved by one person only. Even when an officer arrests 3 people by himself, like it has happened to me a number of times, he always has support from fellow officers putting in pressure on the criminals. This however should not discourage you from attempting to deal with these on your own.

Thread's layout explanation
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
In this topic I will address a number of scenarios that can be encountered as a law enforcement officer. The first options on how to deal with said scenario will try to apply to any type of leo, and some more specific solutions for let’s say swat/army will be noted as well.

Most of the concepts do apply across all three though, so even if you’re not in a specific section I’d suggest reading the entire thing. Also, this will be long just like any other detailed guide should be. If you were expecting a topic with less than 2 sentences, I’m sorry to disappoint you.

Know your surroundings
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Important for both ends of the player spectrum. Cops and robbers features a “cat and mouse” gameplay for the most part, so it is important that you are always on the lookout for what might happen before it does actually happen. Try to get in your foe’s head and think what he will try to do next, for it will simplify a chase much, much more. You should try to learn where people like to go, or what they like to do, or how they like to do it. We tend to be predictable when put under pressure, so we like to head to a “safe environment” to escape.

Try to learn where each player type likes to go or do so that you can beat them to it and emerge victorious from the encounter. This also includes knowing when to take cover and when to come out from it. When and how to “lure” players into getting close and then arresting or killing them. Overall, this could be added into a player variable of “LEO IQ”, basically the intelligence to recognize specific scenarios and carry out the best solution in the shortest time possible.

Dealing with shocks/variations
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Shocks can sometimes be annoying for law enforcement, just like taze can be annoying for criminals. However, just how we are exposed as we /taze, criminals are exposed when they /shock. Yes I am aware that they can shorten it to /sh but they still need to either type or paste it with a specific id.

That leaves them exposed for a 1-2 second frame. This is where your speed of commands should kick in and realize from when a player stands still or moves away to either type or pre-type /sh. Keep an eye on the main chat to see what criminals are carrying shocks as they taze other law enforcement, since this will be useful in determining your approach. Here’s how you can do so:

GENERAL
Spoiler: show
  • If the player seems concentrated on someone/something else, try to sneak up and straight /cuff them. By using cuffs you are restricting their movement and increasing the chances of /ar, /drag or even kill if you so desire.
  • If you don’t think you can sneak up, /taze them. Since they will reply with /sh, you can continue to /taze and try to time your /cuff so that it doesn’t give you either a “command typed too soon” or a “shocked recently can’t use this command” error. Then you can proceed to /ar, /drag or kill.
  • I’ve noticed that a number of players like to switch to sawnoff and just 4 shot you as soon as you get shocked. Most of the times they stand still to make sure that they inflict as much damage as possible. Use this to your advantage: fake as if you’re stuck while you have /cuff ready, then jump on them and /cuff them. Chances are since they’re shooting they won’t be able to respond quickly enough. Then /ar, /drag or kill.

Dealing with bikes
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Bikes can be annoying at times as well since criminals can (and will) use the up arrow bug to gain more speed. They can also use the bikes to perform "stunts" and go out of reach of people who are not either riding a bike like theirs or just don't know how to perform the stunt.

However, this vehicle has weaknesses. First of all, it has only 2 wheels instead of 4. Shooting the back/front wheel will cause a much more significant impact than popping a car's wheel. Second of all, it has HP and the rider is very exposed to damage. So here's how you should deal with them:

GENERAL
Spoiler: show
  • Notice the criminal's ping to time a good ram. A properly executed ram will require you to go in front of the bike (sometimes you can do it from the back but this requires more experience) and swinging from one side to the other, to cause an impact that will de-stabilize the bike and cause the rider to fall off or come to a halt.
If he falls down, /taze and proceed as normal. If he doesn't, try to judge if you can make it in time to jack him out of the vehicle and then /taze and proceed as normal. Make sure to judge this well, because a premature jack attempt will only allow him to increase the gap.
  • When the rider is going on a straightaway or coming out of a turn and building up his speed, try to time a well executed jump and blow up his tires. If you succeed, the bike will be out of control and the rider will either lose control and crash or be forced to go slower. At that point you can time a ram easier and proceed from there, or just straight out shoot to kill.
  • Sometimes riders like to go around in circles trying to drive-by. Use this to your advantage, attempt to run in the opposite direction they're going in and then jack their bike whilst running towards them.

This quick change of direction will confuse them and will "break" their circled drive-by and you will be able to jack them from their bike. You should attempt to blow their tires first with a submachine gun or whatever to make this an even easier process.
SWAT
Spoiler: show
  • Bomb/Roadblock. Bomb pretty much self-explanatory. Time it well, kaboom. A well timed roadblock will stop the vehicle or cause it to remain stuck and lose hp, or at least make the rider fall off. Proceed as normal from there.
Roadblock can be used for cover to shoot the tires/rider as well.
ARMY
Spoiler: show
  • Grenades/Vehicles. This will apply for pretty much every scenario, just make sure that the rules for all of your equipment are not being broken in the scenarios. Wanteds may jump out and try to duel once you engage, so proceed as normal from there.

Dealing with bicycles
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
A scenario which is unnecesarily filtered by many law enforcement as "overpowered" or simply "too difficult". Nonsense. While these bicycles do not share some of the drawbacks of bikes themselves, they do not share some of the advantages of them.

They cannot have a similar straight down speed and will require more effort from the player to maintain a good speed. Also, they can jump, but everything that goes up must go down. Time your movements based on this. This is how you should proceed:

GENERAL
Spoiler: show
  • Same as the previous category for a ram. Look at the player's ping, and if they jump/not jump. It's normally easier to time the ram on a straightaway or when they try to recover from a turn. Also they often seem to hit poles just like most people in the server which will drastically slow them down.
Be sure to pay attention and jump to the action with either /cuff or /taze, and proceed as normal from there.
  • They like to drive-by as well. You cannot shoot their tires, so just time the "counter run" well so that you can jack them and then proceed as normal. Try to force them into an area where they have to slow down or get them right as they come down from a jump or whatever.
  • Some players like to use this as they'll go on a straightaway, get out, shoot you, then get in, and repeat the process. Use this to your advantage, they'll either try to escape by going forward or jumping, make sure you time your ram/jump as in your car will block them from advancing allowing you to jack them, and then proceed as normal.
SWAT
Spoiler: show
  • Bomb/Roadblock. Bomb pretty much self-explanatory. Time it well, kaboom. A well timed roadblock will stop the vehicle or cause it to remain stuck and lose hp, or at least make the rider fall off. Proceed as normal from there.
Roadblock can be used for cover to shoot the rider only, but in this scenario it won't be as beneficial since it will only slow you down if you try to use it as cover.
ARMY
Spoiler: show
  • Grenades/Vehicles. This will apply for pretty much every scenario, just make sure that the rules for all of your equipment are not being broken in the scenarios. Wanteds may jump out and try to duel once you engage, so proceed as normal from there.

Dealing with vortex
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Yes, the hovercraft that was completely ignored in Singleplayer but is now adored in Multiplayer. It's "aimbot" makes it seamingly impossible to get some shots or even ride for cover before you are dead.

It has a lot of drawbacks though, such as slow speed, slow rotation speed, and overall "clumsy" handling. This is how you should proceed:

GENERAL
Spoiler: show
  • Use a car from cover and rotate around it as you shoot the player. If you do this right you'll be able to live and the player will either be forced out of his exploding vortex or die with his evergoing friend. Make sure to rotate well, or else the bullets will rip you basically instantly.
  • Use a bike and try to purposely crash or jump out as you are about to hit the vortex. With enough experience and timing you'll be able to drop either on top directly or close enough to time a jump well and be able to shoot/force the driver out of the vehicle.
  • Just walking around, you can lure a vortex to come your way and time a jump well, just like in the previous approach. Note that this is more risky since you have no cover in here, and it pretty much involves no margin for error.
SWAT
Spoiler: show
  • Bomb/Roadblock. Bomb pretty much self-explanatory. Time it well, kaboom. A well timed roadblock will stop the vehicle or cause it to remain stuck and lose hp, or at least make the rider fall off. Proceed as normal from there.
Roadblock can be used for cover to shoot the vortex/rider as well.
ARMY
Spoiler: show
  • Grenades/Vehicles. This will apply for pretty much every scenario, just make sure that the rules for all of your equipment are not being broken in the scenarios. Wanteds may jump out and try to duel once you engage, so proceed as normal from there. Jumping on the roof will work too, easy kill there.

Dealing with rooftop simulators
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
We all know those players. They like to go on roofs and just camp the shit out of them. They are easy to deal with though, since most of the time they either go there with a bmx or with a heli. Here's how you can deal with them:

GENERAL
Spoiler: show
  • Use a car for cover and just shoot shoot and kill him. I know it sounds vague but that's really the best way for when you are by yourself.
  • Take a helicopter if you're feeling ballsy and try to move him out of the roof. With luck, you'll be lucky enough to time it just before or right as he gets in the vehicle and carjack and proceed as normal.
If not, he goes either to the ground or to another roof, in which case you continue to follow with the helicopter and try repeatedly. Some other cop might show up and put additional pressure.
SWAT
Spoiler: show
  • Bomb/Roadblock. Bomb pretty much self-explanatory. Time it well, kaboom. A well timed roadblock will stop his vehicle or cause it to remain stuck and lose hp, or at least make the driver/rider get off the vehicle. Proceed as normal from there.
Roadblock can be used for cover to shoot the vehicle/rider as well.
ARMY
Spoiler: show
  • Grenades/Vehicles. This will apply for pretty much every scenario, just make sure that the rules for all of your equipment are not being broken in the scenarios. Wanteds may jump out and try to duel once you engage, so proceed as normal from there.

Dealing with a single criminal
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
This is rather simple to be honest. 1v1 driving scenario, in many ways the person who is being chased has the advantage, but he also has the most pressure. Since driving quality is pretty much as low as the floor, it shouldn't be difficult tackling a 1v1 situation. Here's some ideas on how to approach it:

GENERAL
Spoiler: show
  • Make sure to keep on his tail and keep applying pressure. He will start making more mistakes and then you can jump out and shoot the tires. Return to your vehicle and follow or just straight up go to him and jack him, then proceed as normal.
  • You can time a ram as well, make sure that you check his ping first or have a general idea of its range or it will look like you rammed yourself on your screen (more important against higher ping players).
Once you execute a ram well, you can either pop the tires or depending on how good the ram was you can run to the criminal as he gets out of the car and proceed as normal or he'll die from the explosion.

Dealing with a team of criminals
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
An officer will be at a disadvantage, at least in paper, 10 out of 10 times. Quantity is important, but quality is even more important. LEO IQ comes into play here, if you are smart in how you devise your plan and approach, you can get away with beating teams of criminals by yourself in either 1 wave or 2+ waves. Here's how you should approach this:

GENERAL
Spoiler: show
  • Evaluate which members make up that team. Think of their strengths and weaknesses. Always try to lure them in, ideally by one, so you can just /cuff and proceed from there. Sometimes it's better to leave people cuffed (even though it does pose a big risk) so you can /taze /cuff another criminal.
Be sure to keep an eye on the chat though because if the criminal /bc's then you're pretty much dead.
  • Keep a mental count in your mind of how many /fix's they have used, if they are teaming with 1+ mechanic(s). This is so you can time your rush/attack better, and have a larger chance of success. Patience and calmness is required at the time of evaluation of how to approach, etc. or else you are sure to fail.
  • Try to force them into a corner, or away from one depending on the situation. If their vehicle is in top form, you want to anticipate where they're going to go, or lure them into your position essentially. If their vehicle is already taken care of (low hp/no tires) then you can start being more aggressive.
  • This might take more than 1 wave (run), since you're at a numeral disadvantage. Keep your head up and don't give up, everyone is bound to make mistakes as time progresses. You aren't the exception, neither are them.
SWAT
Spoiler: show
  • Bomb/Roadblock/Commands. Bomb pretty much self-explanatory. Time it well, kaboom. It has the advantage of taking out multiple criminals as well so you can get a nice kill feed as a bonus. A well timed roadblock will stop his vehicle or cause it to remain stuck and lose hp, or at least make the driver/rider get off the vehicle. Proceed as normal from there.
Roadblock can be used for cover to shoot the vehicle/rider as well. Commands such as /smh and /swvm will allow you to remain hidden on the map so you can strike first and strike hard, and allow your vehicle to sustain more damage in a complicated situation like this.
ARMY
Spoiler: show
  • Grenades/Vehicles. This will apply for pretty much every scenario, just make sure that the rules for all of your equipment are not being broken in the scenarios. Wanteds may jump out and try to duel once you engage, so proceed as normal from there. You can take multiple enemies out with le guns fairly easily, just again, make sure all the rules apply and fall into place correctly.

Being part of a team
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Being a part of a team is nice, being a part of a team is good. I'm always the first to say that all LEO's should act as one team, and I strongly believe that to be the case. Just like in any team, there are specific roles to be held. I will list them below and give a description along with some tips for them.

ROLES IN A TEAM
Spoiler: show
  • Driver: your job is to get the team as close to the criminal(s) as possible, maintain good car health for the most part and be comfortable with any situation that may arise. You should be comfortable driving a series of "different" cars since you might have to take one from the street to continue the pursuit of a suspect. Stay focused, stay sharp, and most of all, stay fast. Only attempt to ram/jump out if you are 100% certain that you can either get the tires or get the driver or any other variation. Else it's just a waste of everyone's time and the suspect will have more time to run away.
  • Shooter: your job is to shoot and to have commands ready. The approach you should take when heading for a suspect in a vehicle is "Tires, Player, Chassis", or shoot the tires first, then shoot the player to make sure you get the kill if he dies, and then shoot the chasis (the body) of the vehicle. Of course, you can modify this approach depending on what the objective is (drag/arrest/kill). You must have commands ready at your disposal, I find a lot of times that people just talk about random shit when we're in pursuit, and don't think that they'd have more time to talk once the pursuit is over.
  • Mechanic: depending on the situation, you may be required to join the team as a mechanic. Your job seems fairly simple but let me tell you, it is VERY underrated. A good mechanic will understand when to fix, and how to do it. There should be some sort of communication form between the driver and the mechanic himself to ensure that the /fix is at the right time indeed. A mistimed /fix can cause the death of all the members, the criminals to get away, or both. Stay alert.
As a final note of being a team member, I think it's important to note that you should always help others improve and not ignore people who struggle at first.

You started from scratch too, so don't forget where you came from, and especially don't think that where you are is the top. I see lots of players thinking that they are king of the hill, and this is not true.

Yes I do this a lot, but as an obvious joke. I am not a narcissist despite what most of you may believe.

Conclusion
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Being a law enforcement officer is fun, rewarding and challenging. With these tips, you should be able to improve drastically in a short amount of time.
Remember that the first objective of this game is fun, just like any other game. But always remember that fun increases exponentially as you become better at something.

I'd like to thank Robin for his tutorial on BBCode as well, I've used some concepts in several threads now and I think it's worth a mention. It allows me to keep my topics clean and aesthetic.
I'd advise you all to check it out . Also, check out SWAT's subforum , and Army's subforum .

Enjoy being top class,

Officer rally3.

Fuck me lol didn't know it was double sided in BB. Move is basically causing the text to act like a "newspaper" it moves every character from right to left or so
