Hey lads,

My USB stick is all fucked up, it can't be formatted in any way.

There are no important files on it, plus I've got backups everywhere so it's no need to recover it.

What I do need help with is to get a way to format it, I've tried several programs and exactly nothing worked.
Once I format it in Windows it keeps being "unable to complete the format".

I can buy a new one but it's a 128GB stick which I'd like to keep using so yeah...


I'll give out a reward of a couple million dollars for the winning solution (or the best help once it's fixed), the exact amount depends on how complicated this is going to be and how long it'll take.

Fat32, worked like a charm for about 9 months.

I suspected that was the issue, since one time mine fucked up and I had the same problem (in Windows) where I couldn't get it to even show up on "Disk Management".

Try to run a VM on any sort of Linux distro, that's how I got mine to be able to "come to life" again, then formatted on NTFS. Guessing your issue is on Mac OS, but at least on my end it recognizes the "NTFS" partition just fine.

I tried Ubuntu, Fedora, Parrot OS, and others.

fairly easy to do, get oracle virtualbox (free) download a live iso (i suggest a "full" iso to see linux for yourself) and check gpartition or whatever it was called

I'm unknown with Linux, mind helping me with the batch (or shell cmd whatever it is, sudo or something?).
Main issue is that I'm running very low on disk space on my C drive, it's a 128GB SSD and I'm having like 1GB left free (I can free 5 extra if needed).

Fix Windows was unable to complete the format error with Windows Disk Management

When you get 'Windows was unable to complete the format' error message, you can first try to fix this problem with Windows Disk Management tool. All you need to do is to follow this path:

Step 1. Right-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and hit the "Manage" option. Click on "Disk management" to open Windows Disk Management.
Step 2. Select the Micro SD card, USB or flash drive that you need to format, right-click and hit "Format". If there are any partitions on the drive, you should delete them all at first.

Already did that, didn't work...
