It has become more of a business and a game of memorization than anything else. Do realize that your futures and chances of living comfortably are based on a few standardized tests that usually has nothing to do with what you actually were taught. They don't teach us how to balance a check book, buy a house, open a bank account, etc. Instead, they make us memorize things. The things they make us memorize will not be used by many people, ever, but that's what school is actually about: memorization. How well can you memorize this equation/formula; where is this place located and what is it's significance; who is this person and why is he/she important.Nope. I use like 50 percent school knowledge in my life, for job I will need at least 80 percent. So, I do not agree with you.
What will this do for our future? We don't need to know what this explorer did; we need to know that it happened, and what's actually going on right now because of it.
They are setting us up for failure because those people in power are getting what they want. They're purposely poisoning us.

School then would not be retarded and would be useful (isnt that point of school? or, wait.. :/ )

This is my story
I've finished Gymnasium as my high school, and as you can guess, it was absolutely wrong choice and i have learnt absolutely nothing.
I took a break of 3-4 years and started an IT college (last/this year, decided to give it a try) which i pay 2000$ per year and i still am not happy with the education they provide to their students (yes, it sucks that you pay 2000$/3000KM and you dont get high quality education), but its the curse that comes with school/college, we all "need" that "paper".
Now when it comes to my profession,
an IT "expert" (may i call it that way), with around 7-8 years of active IT "servicing" experience , with pretty good knowledge about computers and programs overall (show-off, bitch please), can you guess how much of it have i learnt in school? Let me help you, not even 20%. Im self-taught "student" and i have better knowledge then 80% of my "school/college-partners/colleagues". (i was like 12 years old when i first time fixed someones pc, after that day i just had to work with computers, the feeling was awesome)
Why is that? You tell me.
Im living proof that schools/colleges do not give you education you NEED in real-time situations. They literally flood your brain with information you will, most likely, never need.
Maybe its me being different than others, maybe i dont understand the point of school, its maybe because i (almost) always have different opinion than others do (whatever the subject is), and maybe its me being retarded by saying that school education is not being correct and is almost absolutely wrong, but i can tell you my friend, school education is wrong way to learn something for professional career

Also my step-brother is a programmer, and he is one of the best students in the college because he went in the best school in Split. Croatian's school are pretty good and they educate you really much (at least where I was). If I was not in school, and if I was not learning properly, I would be a hobo today.
